Remember when nobody told you that there were two restaurants with the same name in two different towns? I do. My name is Brittany and I hope you learn something from me through my blog filled with production misadventures.

Reason 149: He fell asleep while doing a monologue on stage.
-Jay Leno: Did you ever fall asleep on stage?
Hugh Laurie: Well now I’m… Well, sort of. I do remember once doing a monologue, it was actually at the end of the festival, I was doing a monologue and as a comic monologue, it used to go pretty well and I’ve done it a hundred and seventy times. I was sort of used to it going pretty well, and then I was sort of came to and I was aware it wasn’t going so well and the audience had a sort of bemused look on their face…
JL: Now what wasn’t going well with the audience?
Hugh Laurie: They were just there. (Screencap above)
That sort of a look. You’re perhaps familiar with it… or perhaps not. No, no, I mean… I didn’t mean that, I didn’t mean, I absolutely… you know! I was fumbling to my words , that’s not what I meant … It suddenly downed to me that what I’ve done was that I done the whole monologue twice. Without knowing it.
And they were not surprised, they were there sitting thinking “there better be a pretty good payoff for this” and I didn’t have one, I simply didn’t have one! It was really, it was like falling asleep at the wheel on the freeway…-
